Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and President General Pervez Musharraf held a four-hour long meeting at the Army House here on Monday and discussed in detail security measures taken for maintaining law and order in the country during Muharram.
The two leaders also discussed matters including expansion in the federal cabinet, army operation in Wana and recent killing of civilians in the area.
Names of several candidates were came under discussion for their likely inclusion in the cabinet.
They maintained that Wana operation was aimed at nabbing terrorists.
The Prime Minister also assured the President that his government would muster enough support to ensure smooth sailing of National Security Council issue.
The President on the occasion expressed the resolve to crush the terrorism in the country.
"We will not allow terrorists to continue with their evil agenda," he told the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said that the government will not allow terrorism and extremism to flourish. "We are interested in ensuring law and order and, for this, we have to take decisions. Banning of the terrorist and extremist groups was one such step," he said.
He contended that the performance of the government over the last year or so has been satisfactory.
"We have been positive and have taken steps in the right direction. We will ensure security for the people as well," he said.
The Prime Minister said that provinces have also been directed to ensure rule of law. He said the federal government would also leave no stone unturned to guarantee peace in the country.
The Prime Minister said that security for all the important personalities in the country has been beefed up during Muharram.
He said that arrangements have been made to avert any sectarian clash during the month.
